Fitzroy’s new local, Wolfhound on Brunswick has just opened its doors amongst good company at the North end of Brunswick Street. This inviting, warm and eclectic space is the perfect destination for coffee dates and remote working, as well as delectable brunches and a wonderful array of beers, wines and cocktails.
Inside you’ll find exceptionally comfortable seating, cosy booths, couches and a central fire-place. Head on back to the sun drenched, vibrant green courtyard which is filled with shady nooks to while away Summer days and evenings. Plus there’s ample room for your four legged friends, with plenty of water bowls and treats on offer.
The team behind this vibrant new venue are passionate about delicious food, great drinks and quality ingredients. Owner Jane previously operated “Jane’s Gluten Free Breads”, supplying some of Melbourne’s best cafes. It was here that she met chef Justin Cortellino (Porgy and Mr Jones, Snow Pony, CRU) who now heads up the kitchen at Wolfhound on Brunswick. Justin utilises the best in local, seasonal ingredients and has a keen interest in regenerative farming, teaming up with Honest Eggs Co to supply the open range eggs. Other menu items feature Dr Marty’s Crumpets, Cobb Lane croissants and gluten free breads from bakeries Strada and Fatto A Mano. The menu offers the classic breakfast dishes, tasty vegetarian and vegan options and all but one dish is available as gluten free.
Brunch is never complete without coffee, and the team is serving up freshly brewed Seven Seeds coffee and a selection of local and alternative milks from Bonsoy, Milklab, Minor Figures & St David. Tea lovers are catered for thanks to Kama Sutra Teas, including their sensational Chai, while those with a sweet tooth will be sorted with a Kali hot or ice chocolate.
As the sun goes down, the Wolfhound Bar comes into its own. Offering an extensive range of Australian booze, including rotating craft beer taps currently featuring beers from Nomad (NSW) Bad Shepherd (VIC) and Bonehead (VIC). Funky regional wines adorn the fridge shelves while above sits a tidy but purposeful spirits shelf including Four Pillars and The Gospel. This relaxed, vibrant location is the perfect spot to wind down. Evening food is served from the Wolfhound deli, with Australian and imported charcuterie, fine artisan cheeses and toasties.
And delicious food and drink isn’t all that’s on offer. From early March, you will be able to head upstairs to the Wolfhound Gallery supporting and promoting the art of both emerging and established photographers. Stay tuned for launch details in time for the Melbourne-wide PHOTO-2021 exhibitions.
